Didn't it come in a box? It should have a UPC barcode on the box no matter WHO sold it.

It came in a generic brown shipping box with the red replay logo, and no UPC code on it. What should I do???

I just stumbled upon this thread while doing a search for UPC and rebate, and I'm interested if anybody ever answered beechtop's question.

Also, I want to be absolutely sure that I send the correct bar code with my rebate request. How many digits does the UPC code have? Where is it on the box?
Thing is, there are 5 different bar codes on the box and I can't tell which one is the UPC code. Does it have a certain number of digits? Are there letters at the beginning? Maybe locating the UPC code should be in the Replay FAQ...
I know this thread is mainly about the Replay brand units, but I happen to have a Panasonic UPC label in front of me so I thought I'd describe it for those that might need help.

1. Upper left corner it says....
MODEL NO.

NO. DE MODELE PV-HS2000

followed by a barcode.

2. Next level down it says....
NO. DE SERIE E0RA55555

(where E0RA55555 is your serial number)

followed by a barcode.

3. Next level down.....

Here is a taller barcode with the actual UPC number immediately below it, the UPC number being 37988-97831

4. Final level.

This is a "tear off" portion with PV-HS2000 in big bold letters and underlined, followed by....

SERIAL NO.

NO. DE SERIE E0RA55555

(where E0RA55555 is your serial number)

Hope that helps.

If you are worried about them losing your rebate info just xerox everything you send in. Usually the rebate offeres suggest you do this for just such an event.

Yes, although they want an original UPC code. If they lose yours, your copy is exactly that, a copy, and not the original. One would hope that they could accommodate this.

The official position was always that it would take 6 to 8 weeks, so if you sent yours in around Sept 4th, you should expect the check sometime between Oct 16th and Oct 30th. Having said that, I have heard that they received a much greater volume of applications than they expected, which will probably delay things, add to that the fact that they seem to be screwing up a large number of them, and who knows.

Strange that excuse didn't work for Iomega. The judge told them they should have hired more workers to meet their legal commitments.

I agree. The "overwhelming response" excuse is complete BS. There is a rebate status web site where you can check the status.

I received an email saying they did receive my rebate request and I will receive the $100 check after the request is 'processed,' whatever that means.
I called customer support to register yesterday (couldn't get the Web site to work), and I mentioned to the very friendly support guy that I was moving in a couple of weeks and wondered which address I should use for the rebate. He said I should put my new address on the rebate coupons because they won't be processed before I move. I then asked if I should give him my new address to use in my registration, and he said it wasn't necessary. But according to the rebate coupon I printed out (can't remember if it's the loyalty program or the NBC one), you need to make sure that the address you use for the rebate is the same as the address in your registration. To prevent duplicate rebate requests, I assume. So I guess I'll call again tomorrow and make sure that's squared away.

So I guess the moral of the story is to read the fine print very carefully, and don't assume that customer support is 100% up to speed on all this stuff.

(By the way, Robman, thanks for describing the UPC code! That answered my question.)

ReplayMarc, I'm interested by the tone in your last e-mail. You make it sound like us "fatwallet guys" have done something wrong, when in fact most of us played according to the rules set up in your rebate program. I am starting to take a little offense to people who think we cheated the system by setting up a way for people to buy a unit and get a rebate by doing so. As the one who's run the chain (I guess you could call me THE fatwallet guy), I have helped Replay to get 60 new customers. I've spoken with several Replay representatives who have known what I have done and have been quite happy with the results. They've even worked with us to extend the mail-in times for several people trying to get everything in at the last minute.

That being said, I'd appreciate it if we were not treated like criminals (not that you are doing so, but several people here have insinuated as much). I hope Replay is working diligently to correct the problem with these rebates. When I called, there was absolutely NO difference between my referer's serial number and the one I sent in, yet I still received the post-card. That tells me something is wrong, and I just hope it is being fixed. I'm willing to be that MOST of us did not have any problems with the forms sent in, but that some sort of error in dealing with the rebates has now turned this into a hassle for us. I still don't understand why we have to "resubmit," even when all our information is correct.

Please comment, thanks.

Thanks. I appreciate the comments. While some may have tried to "double dip", that was certainly NOT the intention of the "movement." http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif I spelled out the rules quite clearly and we tried to ensure this would not happen. I can't speak for everyone, but I think many of us did it right. BTW, how do you know it was the "fatwallet guys" that did the double-dipping? Have you been checking e-mails against our members there or what? By your previous post, you insinuated that it was only the fatwallet people that were doing this.

One other question I do have is this. What do you mean by 'resubmit?' I for one, have already sent all the information. Do I just reply to the postcard, or do I fill out the rebate form again and mail it to the original location?

Thanks.

I got two of my friends to buy a ReplayTV BECAUSE OF THE FATWALLET CHAIN.

I agree completely with valkyrie that the Fatwallet chain follows the spirit of the tell-a-friend rebate. It allows the "friend" to also benefit by creating a chain of people... most of the people on the chain bought their ReplayTV's BECAUSE OF THE EXISTENCE OF THE CHAIN.

I sent an inquiry to rebatestatus.com, and I received a response saying:

"We show that you have a valid record in our system. Once it completes

processing your check will be sent to you"

Does that mean my rebate was already accepted? Or could I still be denied at this point?

That means you're in, nothing more to worry about (unless you hear otherwise).

No loyalty rebate for the second 3060 unit. Hmmmmmmmm

I was all ready to buy (2) 3060 units from ecost.com.

Then I called ReplayTv rep to ask the question about the loyalty rebate for the second unit.

I Talked with a rep. named Dave. Dave said that the loyalty rebate wound not be honered for the second unit! Got the printed out coupon for both NBC and loyalty rebate and it is confusing fine print. I Need some help from the staff to sort this matter out! Big purchase, no loyalty rebate whutz up with that!

I won't pull the trigger till I hear from the collective
