i currently own an onkyo tx ds 575 that i have been very happy with.

xmas time the dsp board craps out and i have it repaired, aprox $400.

8 months later same thing, :pissed: , and i decide not to pay another $250

so now i am looking at the onkyo tx sr 800.

authorized online dealers are pricing it new at $850 (cambridge) and refurbished at $670 (bestpriceaudiovideo.com)

would you buy the refurbished over the new with the $180 price difference?

would you recommend a different unit in the similar price range?

i run:

misubishi ws tv

philips tivo

sony cd player

basic dvd player

infinity reference speakers

thanks.

Why would you buy another Onkyo? Especially at those prices to repair. It should NOT cost that much to fix. I wouldn't touch any product that cost that much to repair from that company. Have you considered why there are refurbs readily available? I had a friend who bought a 600 and he returned it because the sales guy said "OH. You have 4 ohm speakers. You don't want to do that, these blow up into 4 ohm loads". Seriously.
