Receiver and speakers questions

Hi, not sure if this is in the right place but, I have been thinking about buying a new music and movie set-up. I want to have good sound while watching dvds, aswell as listening to cds and mp3s off of my computer.

Through my reasearch I have been thinking about getting a panisonic XR-50 and some paradigm Titans. Right now I have a set of boston computer speakers that plug into my SB audigy sound card, and I was wondering if I could cut the ends off of my boston sub and two of the speakers to use with the the XR-50.

Also will the SB audigy plug directly into the XR-50 through the digital out, or should I buy a EMU 0404 to use with this setup(computer will be main source of music, both through speakers and headphones which are grados sr-60s). I have about 1000Can to spend on the set-up and any help would be great as it will probaly stick with me for a few years. Thanks for all the help

Are the cables to the sub fixed? What kind of connection is it, and are there any other input ports? It would seem a much better idea to just get the right kind of cable to connect from receiver to sub, even if it means a funny cable (like a Y cable, or otherwise unmatched ends). Or if the cable is fixed to the sub, you could adapt that cable rather than cut/solder).

You can connect your audigy via digital coax to your receiver, thats how I do it. You need a mini 1/8" to rca adapter going from your digital out to a digital coax in on your receiver.

Thanks for the replies. I think I can use an adapter for the sub, it uses an 1/8 mini, so it makes more sense to just get an adapter if I can.

Can anyone tell me if the EMU 0404 will produce a better sound than the Sound Blaster I currently have.

Also I am assuming the XR-50 will power 4 titans and my small sub just fine? If not can someone recomend another set-up that will work for around the some price of 1000can. Thanks again for the help
