Receiver Flashing Between DD+ and Neo 6

I've got an Nvidia Shield (just got it) hooked up to my Yahama Receiver. Much of the content on these streaming devices (like for Hulu and YouTube TV) is actually in 2-channel and my Yamaha upscales it to Virtual Surround (Neo 6, Neural X, Dolby Surround) as indicated on the panel. There was a rumor that Shield updated to support 5.1 on Hulu. But the sound appears to be identical to Neo 6 Virtual Surround and the receiver flashes between DD+ and Neo 6. I can't remember if this was happening all along but I don't see this flashing back and forth with other streaming sources, it's either DD+ solid, or Neo 6 Solid. Does anyone know what the flashing back and forth is really indicating?

The only reason it should be doing that is if it's going from DD+ to PCM and then swapping you back to NEO 6

I've never seen this problem

Maybe try switching ports on the AVR. But I would point my finger at the new device having some audio issue if everything else works but problem remains after port swaps. Is there an auto audio setting in the shield? Try forcing it to one? Beyond that can try to hard reset the shield and factory wipe it.

If this is only happening on Hulu it's probably some hulu app related bug. I wouldn't bother doing any physical steps just play with the settings maybe the bug goes away. Factory reset if you don't mind waiting around.

Well it doesn't affect the actual sound in any way. Seems to be a combination of my Nvidia Shield and Hulu. Doesn't do it on my Chromecast with Google TV or my Tivo Stream 4K. I imagine it will go away with a Hulu update or something.
