I just bought the Pioneer VSX-1016 for home theater, but my questions probably pertain to any receiver.


1. My TV is connected directly to the cable, not through a cable box. Am I able to connect the audio from the TV into the reciver to get stereo or 5.1? If so, how, I am not finding it in the directions. I do have a digital coaxial cable for the DVD/CD player to the receiver.


2. I use component video cables for my DVD player. Should I connect these cables from the DVD player to the receiver, then from the receiver to the TV? The instructions show to do this, but I do not understand why you would not just connect one set of cables from DVD player to the TV.

Thanks jbrillo for your response. I will kep the component cables hooked up from my DVD player to the TV, and not through the receiver.
