Hey guys,

Some great info on these boards.

I'm pretty new to all this and I need some help.

I currently have a PS3 connected to a Samsung LN40A550 via HDMI. Anyone with this set knows that the sound is pretty awful. I also have my DVR-HD box connected to the set via HDMI.

I'm about to order a Harmon Kardon HK 3490 receiver to power 2 PSB Alpha B1 speakers.

Now, this is where i'm confused. My cousin recommends that I run a component cable from my TV to my receiver so that the sound from either watching TV or on PS3 comes through the PSB speakers.

Should I be connecting it this way? Do you guys recommend something else? What type of cables should I use and any particular brand?

Sorry if this seems straight forward but I have no clue.

The HK receiver does not support HDMI, it's a 2 channel receiver only.
