Hello, im planning to purchase a 7.1 av receiver within $1000CDN, ive seen these and they all seem decent:

- Harman Kardon AVR 7550HD (this MSRP more than $2000, but i can get it for $1000CDN

- Denon AVR 2112CI

- Pioneer VSX-1021-k

- Onkyo TX-NR609

- Yamaha RXV-571

- Marantz SR5006

Which one of these would be the best? I only have a pair of KEF Q300 so far, but planning to get more surround speakers. thank you.

I think that I would save a little money and pick the Marantz SR5006. Has nearly the same power as the HK, plenty of connectivity, reliable and is several hundred less. The difference between 100 watts per channel and 110 watts per channel is negligible.

I will have to admit that the HK is tempting at that price. I have owned three HK AVR's and they were okay, but nothing to brag about. They were all mid level AVR's so not directly comparable to the top of the line HK.

I just got the 809 for 1100 here in Canada. I am going from a Yamaha rxv1800. I would also suggest the Yamaha rxa2000 around your budget.

My 809 should be here Friday or Monday. Hopefully before the weekend.

Good luck and have fun. I like a few of the newer features you can get at this price point and decided on the 809 which has a good balance of features, power, connectivity for me.

I will be running Monitor Audio RX6's, RXC and RXFX speakers with mine.

You can also get a brand new with warranty Onkyo 3007 for $1099. Regular price was around $2400.
