I'm currently using an Onkyo TX-SR706B receiver, when I plug in headphones to the receiver, it looks like the best I can do is get "Stereo", even while watching something in Dolby.

So I'm assuming my receiver does not have Dolby Headphone, are there any receivers that come with Dolby headphone built in?

Yes, the receiver is very likely converting 5.1 (or whatever the input is) to stereo for headphone output - which is what it should properly do. I've yet to figure out what this obsession with having "5.1 headphones" is.


That said, there are MANY receivers that support Dolby Headphone, although you can buy a stand-alone Dolby Headphone processor for a lot less coin. JVC makes (or made) one, I remember it costing around $150 (while a new receiver will probably run you $500+).

I know the Marantz 5005/6005 have Dolby Headphone.

Or if you didn't want to get a new receiver and wanted a stand-alone Dolby Headphone processor. I hear go things about the Astro Mixamp.
