I know many of you audiophiles will probably frown on using bass/treble controls on a receiver, but frankly I've never heard an audio system that didn't sound better to me after tuning these controls. Anyway, I was looking for a receiver that included these controls, and while all seem to have them, I was suprised to see that their use is crippled on manyy receivers. I looked at the Panasonic XR45... it can only adjust bass and treble in stereo mode, but NOT in 6 channel DVD audio mode. Then there are the Yamaha receivers. They adjust bass and treble in all modes, but ONLY for the front pair of speakers! It seems only Onkyo (so far) has bass and treble controls that will work in basically all modes on all speakers. Could someone backup these statements? Does anyone know of other receiver brands with "universal" tone controls? I can't afford uber-expensive speakers, so these controls will be important to me.
