Pardon my noobness but I have a few questions.


I am putting together a stereo/video room on a budget, and I would like some suggestions on what type of receiver fits the bill, and do I need an HDMI receiver?


-Budget for receiver is $300-400

-I have purchased a pair of Ascend Acoustics CBM 170 SE speakers

-I want to keep this system 2.1

-Some flat screen tv (haven't started that search yet)

-Possibly Blu-ray in the future

-I want to listen to TV/DVD through the AA speakers

-I will possibly add a record player as well

-I listen to mostly acoustic/jazz

That was a good read. Looks like a stereo receiver will be plenty for me, since I don't mind video switching on the TV.

I am currently looking at the HK 3490, any other recommendations for a $300-400 2.1 receiver?
