Looking for lighting for my build. Non insulated ceiling and new construction. These seem right but there are so many different options it's really confusing!

Any tips? Anything equal in terms of quality and cheaper?

Your ceiling should be insulated so you want the IC rated versions.

Of course I know nothing about the room, it's purpose, the design, and your sound containment goals.
Non-dedicated space...it will have a home theater in along with a seating area and a space for the kids to horse around.

I was not planning on doing the ceiling but I can be talked out of my decision. Sound isolation is not a major consideration on my build so far. To be honest I am flying by the seat of my pants!

Have an Epson 8100, Denon 1910 and speakers on the ready...just need a room for them!
You might just as well go to HD and buy cheapest contractor 6 pack of recessed lights. They also have this one :

This seems like one of those "since I am framing I should do it now" things. Perhaps I will fork out the extra $$ and just insulate it. You guys would know better than I would.

I was avoiding the halo's as I read they are more cheaply made.

Speaking of cheap...anything comparable to these but cheaper?

My basement is filled with Halo's from HD...buy the contractor pack...they work just fine. It's just a can light...wires and housing...no need to break the bank.

These are a lot cheaper:

4 inch AT IC

They're what I have in my family room.
Those are reasonably priced. Don't forget you need to buy the trims but they seem reasonably priced as well.
As far as the ceiling, at this stage you should ask yourself how important is it to be able to enjoy a basement based theater without waking others in the house. How important is it to let the kids hang out in the basement without listening to their conversations.

If these things are important to you, you should visit Soundproofingcompany.com and read the library of articles. Insulation is a very small part of a soundproofing strategy.
