he receiver is the HK AVR 1700. I would like to see what i have to do so i have the option to just watch tv without using the speakers connected to the reciever. RIght now, I cant find a setting that allows me to use the tv speakers without the floorstanding speakrs connected to the receiver on as well.

Does the amp offer HDMI pass through?

I don't believe that is possible with your setup. Why do you want to bypass the HT speakers? It never occurred to me to want to do that.

I just thought of a way. Put the receiver in mute mode and then turn up the speakers on the TV.
