Here's a suggestion for 3.1/4.0 -

Allow the reclaimation of disk space for shows which have been partially watched. For example, I record a 2 hours movie and watch the first hour. Give me an option to delete the first hour of the movie.

It may be nice in some rare occasions, but I don't think it deserves to be a feature. You're talking about 1 hour of recording time, just make some room or record non-guaranteed. The feature you describe would, IMHO, be more a chance to make mistakes that piss ya off than ever be that helpful.

Thanks for your support for an idea that has been requested before by several of the experienced posters here. As others have pointed out, we are not asking for the ability to excise commercials or general editing. Rather it would be useful as you observe to reclaim space from partially watched long shows.

It would be adequate and highly useful to delete from start to current position.

Not a fix but a workaround. you could make the show in several manual recording for extra long show like this. So you could delete after wtching each part. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
