I am looking for a good lower power amp for my 5.1 HT setup. I just got a great deal on some Klipsch XF-48 Active (powered) speakers.

They can take a line-level RCA input from a pre-amp or just about any power high-level input. The power doesn't matter since they are internally amplified.

The tricky part is that the center and surrounds are not self-powered so I can't just use a pre-amp.

I currently have the old, all-digital Panasonic SA-XR70. But it will not down-sample 7 channels to 5. It only down-samples 7 channels to 2. So I need a new amp that will handle any input (preferably HDMI switching) and output to a 5.1 setup.

Any ideas?

Are you not just looking for any AVR that has pre-outs?? That is what I do with active main speakers and passive surrounds. Your setup will be no different.

btw, what are you selling your Panasonic SA-XR70 for? I would love to buy it!!

I think maybe you want a receiver and not an amp? Plenty of choice out there which meet your needs, if I understand them correctly.
