hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my htpc and have a new motherboard coming in the next few days
. I'm also looking to upgrade my nova t500 card to another dual dvb-t card. There isn't anything wrong with my t500 its just becuase it is 2 usb tuners on a pci bus it takes the card about 30 seconds after waking from s3 before I can watch anything. I know 30 seconds doesn't seem like alot but in the odd case it can take longer and this causes problems with mediaportals tvserver ending up in "card not available" which is a pain. So can anyone recommend a dual dvb-t tuner, preferably pci-e as I've heard this doesn't have standby issues and it has to be low profile otherwise it wont fit in my case. Thanks.

I using 2 Avermedia dual tuners. The Duet is the card. So now I can record 4 shows at once if needed. So far test have been great. But now I want to try 4 HD shows at the same time. I can't seem to choose tuner decoders/encoders like in the older version of STV with the old tuner, Vbox 150 card. But oh well.

Sorry to be completely ignorant, but is your signal in ATSC in the UK?

If so, I'll go along with the Avermedia tuners - I have a couple but they are single tuner cards bot have been very dependable and perform well. If you need a remote control, then you might want to look at Hauppage. I didn't need a remote, so I went with Avermedia because they are less expensive (check out NewEgg). Don't know what you use for software, but Avermedia actually has decent software and it doesn't interfere with other media software. Only thing I don't like about it is the way it names your recordings.

Thanks for the quick responses. I believe the signal here is PAL. In terms of software it will be used in mediaportal so I'm not bother about the software and I already have a remote so I'm really just interested in the tuner.

Your best bet would be to just do a search in Google for a pal tuner. Also check out NewEgg. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of your TV signals can get in and help. Since we only have digital now (with minor exceptions) I wondered if the UK had all digital or a combination with PAL. If you have a choice, I'd sure go the digital route.
