Recommendation for RF Distribution

I am in the planning stages for retrofitting my home with wiring for whole home Audio/Video/Data. I have been researching what the best method for splitting the RF signal to have about 12 outputs for Video Sources and 1 output for my cable modem.


The 12 outputs will be to various rooms in my house ranging from 20 feet away from my data closet to a max of 100 feet away.


Could I get some suggestions on how I should split my RF signal and what hardware I should purchase to do this.


I would also like to add the capability of having a modulated input for the 12 outputs for security cameras.


I could go with a Channel Vision 1 in 16 out 16dBmV Amplified Splitter C-0332 which will not give me a modulated channel.


I could go with two Channel VIsion 2 in 8 Out Amplified Splitter / Combiner C-0329. I would have to split the main line into two first with a passive splitter.


Also, as long as these are bidirectional can I connect my cable modem to them, or should i split the line first having my cable modem separately connected.

Use the 1x16 amplified splitter with two 1x2 passive splitters and a low pass filter.


Splitter 1 used as a 1x2 (S1 In, S2 Out, S3 Out)

Splitter 2 used as a 2x1 (S4 In, S5 In, S6 Out)


Incoming CATV ---> S1


S2 ------> Cable Modem


S3 ------> Low Pass Filter -------> S4


Modulator ----> S5


S6 ------> 1x16 amplified splitter

Do you recommend an additional amplifier coming out of S6 or will the Channel Vision 1 in 16 out 16dBmV Amplified Splitter C-0332 have sufficient amplification. Are there any other Brands/Models out there that will work better?

I can't honestly speak about the 1x16 as I've never used it. I use a ChannelPlus 550BID which is 1x8, but at about 4 times the cost. It does have the benefit of having inputs for two modulation feeds. Hopefully someone else who has actually used the unit can chime in.
