I am looking for a preamp/pro with at least 10 inputs for source components. Everything I've found has too few inputs for my needs.

Can anyone recommend a good preamp for me with a lot of inputs, for under $5,000?

10 analog or 10 digital inputs? Have you looked at high end receivers? The Denon 5803 has 11 digital inputs and 11 analog inputs (not counting multi-channel input). IMO, the processing in this unit is very good...

10 inputs in all. 5 digital inputs. That's what I need. I have looked at the Denon receivers, but I have my heart set on separates. Any recommendations for a pre-amp?

Ben

Here's a list of what I want to connect to it. I put a * next the digital sources.

CD 1 *

CABLE BOX 1 *

CABLE BOX 2 *

AM/FM TUNER

EXTRA

EXTRA (CD 2?)

10 unique inputs? 5 analog and 5 digital? Try the Lexicon MC-12 .

Edit: Whoops! I just noticed that you said under $5000, although you might be able to get a decent discount on the MC-12's $9000 retail price.

The B&K Ref 30, Tag-McLaren 30R or 32R, & the Lexicon & Theta products in your budget all have the required number of connections (to name a few).

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I doubt I'll be able to find the Lexicon MC-12 for under $5000. I'll check out those others.

I would look at a McIntosh MX132 or MX134 pre-amp... I've seen the 134 for $5500 somewhere, but the 132 can definitely be had for under $5k.

Or the new Krell preamp... I'm sure there are others but I am getting a mental block.

I saw the McInstosh MX-134 but never for $5500. Where did you see that price?

The MX-132 has been discontinued.
