Recommendation on new set??

OK... enough reading. My head is spinning.

My TV repair guy told me not to call him anymore to fix my circa 1995 Sony 41" rear projection TV. (OK... that's really good news if you're married to someone like I am).

So, it's time to upgrade. What now?

Did a bit of research and found that it may be best to get something that does 1080p. Is this still correct? Also, buying at Costco seems to be a rage of late.. is that also true? If so, anything you recommend?

Keep in mind what I had before was sufficient as far as size goes. Of course, I'll be going from 4:3 to 16:9.

Any direction towards a purchase decision would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Pioneer 1140HD or 5071.

I sat on this board for a month looking and researching and deciding what was best for my situation.

This is my recommendation, but it varies depending on your situation. Lighting, distance, price, and of course personal perception of how the tv "looks"

I've had the 1140HD now for 3 days...still breaking it in, but I watched LOST last night...was freakin' beautiful! That was with D-Nices break-in settings also. After my 100 hour breakin I'll be turning stuff up slightly. NICE!
A lot depends on size especially for 1080p, how big you looking to go or better yet, how far are you from your proposed viewing area... the rage with Costco is solid pricing and an EXTREMELY liberal return policy that may change as people continue to abuse.

I'm not that far from the set... maybe 10-12 ft?

I will probably go DLP or LCD, as I prefer not plasma.

Is this the wrong forum? :0
