Looking for the start of a home theater setup in the $300-500 range.

I will be living in close quarters for awhile and will actually be using this system initially to manage video and drive a pair of yet-to-be purchased headphones ($100-200 range). Once I move to my own place, I will be driving with almost absolute certainty an Energy Take Classic 5.1 set.

This will be hooked up to a 37" Sony XBR6.

PS3 (audio and video via HDMI) for Bluray and DVD

HTPC (audio and video via HDMI) for music, streaming video, light gaming

HD-DVR (audio and video via HDMI)

Wii (Component and Optical) for fitness and fun!

I am willing to sacrifice power (although not sound quality) for the most updated features to match up with the ever-changing Bluray specs. It is unlikely that I will move to a 7.1 system in the next 5-10 years so that is not important.

I am not an audiophile, but I am definitely starting to care more about how good my music sounds. I also don't want to lose any video quality to my receiver, so I definitely want something that either has an excellent video processor or has a way to turn it off and just pass through.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Any particular model you would recommend? It is hard to process all the information on the site. Everything starts to look like a good option to me after a while
Also wish I had thousand's more to spend.

The HK 254 and Denon 1910/790 would be my picks. Refurbished HK 254's can be had from HK's eBay store for short money.

What is does "custom installer" friendly mean? The Denon 1910 and 790 look at brief glance to be the same with only the CI designation and $50 difference. They look beautiful and perfect for what I was looking for. Just going to wait a couple months to sell some stuff I have now and hopefully get a price drop to the $400 range.

Thanks.
