I just picked up the 37" Vizio VW37L and I couldn't be happier.

Toshiba 37HL67 is very nice - and a little bit of shopping will get it within your price range.

Prices can't be beat. Half of your budget for a nice TV.

If you have $1,100 for a TV, ignore my post. I feel these are the best 37 inch TV's for $700 and under.

Also have you looked at the westinghouse lmv37w3

or the Olevia 537h

I own both of those sets and think they are excellent especially for the price of admission IMHO
