I have a Newly re-tubed Sony 1272 that I am connecting to my first HTPC, I am waiting on a few parts to arrive to finish building the pc. My goal is to use powerstrip to get a good quality picture without putting excessive wear on the tubes. I don't want to push the PJ to the limit to lesson the life on the tubes. I have a very limited understanding of the power strip settings , or how to calculate the resolutions. I was wondering if someone could recommend some reading on the subject. Most of the posts I have read are not directed at the beginner , and are difficult to understand. I do not want to make a mistake and damage the projector or the PC. If there is a 1272 , HTPC user that could give me some good power strip settings for a starting point, until I can make some sense of the numbers, and how they they work, it would be be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. This set up will basically be used as a DVD movie theater, no TV.games etc. The screen will be 102" dia, with a ATI 9800 Pro video card in the pc.

Hope this helps!

You'll get more response in the HTPC Forum and title your post something like "Help w/Powerstrip and Sony 1272" for better results.

I agree with Tim. There's some good posts in there on PS settings if you search on 'powerstrip'. Not sure about your model but lots for Barcos :)

Thanks for the help Guys.

I am aware of the learning curve, I do eventually want to get the HTPC running in my theater, but since I have posted I have realized this may take more time to perfect than I anticipated, so I went ahead and ordered a Momitsu DVD player, I will use this till I have the necessary computer skills

Joe,

I am currently drywalling my room, I put in a lowered ceiling. and beefed up the ceiling joists so I can hang the PJ. I have put the HTPC on hold for a bit, I really want to get the drywall done before the weather turns for the worse. I have had a good response as to a starting point for power strip, I was going to start with their recommendations.and go from there.

Good luck with the drywalling! I wimped out and went the easy way, I have a really expensive foot rest. My ceilings are too low any way. This way, I can rest my feet on the projector and I don't have to worry about 250 pounds ripping out of the ceiling and falling on my head.
