Record All Episodes bug

Very interesting.... OK, now I get it.

I see that you (still) can't set 0 hours to save for a theme-based channel. The bug I'm talking about is for a show-based channel (0 episodes instead of 0 hours), so it probably won't help you.

Unfortunately that is too true. Just for kicks I have set up a 0 episodes record for 1:30 to 2:00 to see what will happen.

I submitted this the other day and thought I might share:

If you change the recording options for a show, setting "Record All Episodes" to YES from NO, it will set the "Keep Episodes" number to zero, and allow you to save the options like that. If you pass through that field, it will automatically change it to 1, but if you don't it will save zero. I'm not sure if it will record anything with "Keep 0 episode" selected.

WHAT!!! Oh, I hope it will save those options. We've all been asking for a "Save 0 Episodes" feature! That would fix one of my major complaints. That way I can set up a search and not worry about recording junk that fits the search criteria but I don't want to record. (i.e. SPORTS:Automotive) That way I can record RACING and not all those "Bubba's got a problem and can't turn right" things they call races. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

If I read you right, if you scroll through the hours selection 0 isn't an option any more?

Oh, please, please let this be the case. Replay Guys, if this is a BUG, don't "fix" it, enhance it and allow us to set 0 hours on purpose!

Okay, Wayno. I've read your response 3 times and I still don't understand what you're trying to accomplish with saving 0 episodes... Can you try and explain again?

I'll explain because I would like this to. You want to create a theme once that will never record on its own but that you can use to generate a search list from which you will choose specific shows. This way you don't have to recreate the theme each time you want to do the search on that criteria AND it won't record on its own those show you would not pick.

Yes, what Karog said is exactly why I and many others would like to see this feature. Alas as someone else also noted (and I found out when experimenting) is that it will only work with a show based recording.(DRAT!)

It's true that what we really want is a way to save a search criteria that will NEVER record on it's own but we can call up at will to generate a list of shows that we can cherry-pick from to select the ones we do want to record.

If you make it 1/2 hour, it won't record anything if the show is and hour or more. (For the Racing example).

Just FYI: I just did a test and had a recording w/ zero episodes set to record.

It still recorded a show...and kept the number shown to zero.

Guess "0" just means "1" in this case...
