Hey guys!

As we all know, the new Sopranos season will be here in march, and I want to have the absolute best recordings of it. Which presents me with a problem.

Right now I have an RCA DTC-100 DirecTV Reciever with HD VGA output converted to component for my Hitachi via Audio Authority converter.

Im thinking either I can buy a JVC DVHS VCR which are always open item at Best Buy for like 300 because nobody can use them... but then Id need to buy a new satellite reciever for the firewire.

OR is there a way to capture onto my computer. This way I can down-convert the HD show to the best that DVD has to offer.

I like the DVHS idea, but Im afraid that route would just be too expensive with replacing my reciever. Then im thinking... well do these PC cards even exist? It would need to have a component or VGA input of course!

Id appreciate any input you guys have on this headache!

There are currently no Sat boxes w/active firewire from the mfgr.

E*'s 921 has FW but it is not active.

If you want to record Sat today look for the 169time posts, and expect to pay >$1K.
