I am new to this forum and I have a problem I was wondering if someone could help me with. I have some audio cassette tapes that I need to put on CD and I need come advice on how to do it. I have a new HP computer that has two cd drives one of which is a burner. My stero has only one set of outputs for Video(Aux) so I'm not sure how I can connect this to anything so I can download this cassette to my computer and burn a CD that way. I also picked up an ADS Tech DVD Express converter to also download some VHS video tapes I have onto DVD. Can I use this with a different cassette deck to download this cassette onto my computer?

What ever advice anybody can give I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If sound quality is not a priority you could easily do the following:

1 - use a Y-cable that combines L+R RCA -> 1/8" stereo jack

2 - Plug the RCA into your Cassette deck output

3 - Plug the other end into your sound cards"input" jack

4 - Use the Windows sound recorder to record this to one or more .WAV files

5 - Burn the .WAV file(s) to a cd

This will work but it is not the greatest.

My CD burner software came with some audio recording tool that was designed to do just this, take analog sound sources (record, tape) and burn them to cd.

The s/w is by adpatec and came with the "Easy CD Creator" bundle.

The connections are identical to the previous post, but the s/w takes care of the recording...

A quick search turned up this -> http://www.roxio.com/en/products/ecdc/index.jhtml

So it looks like Roxio bought the product line. Take a look at the "Features" and then the "Music"" tab at the above link:

"Sound Editor lets you easily convert analog audio from LPs or tapes into .wma or .mp3 format. Connect a turn table or stereo to your computer's sound input and click play/record. You can even dramatically improve the sound quality by removing pops, clicks and hiss with special filters and effects. "
