My sound card is giving me issues when I try to record any sound with energy below around 100hz. Rather than trying to describe it, I screened the waveform of the distortion, shown below. It does it regardless of if I am recording a real sound or using a playback device, at any level.


On top is the source sample, and on bottom is the recorded sample.




It looks to me like there is some weird phase flipping going on. Let me know if you have an idea. If not, try directing me somewhere that someone might. I may need to replace it (it's an external USB 2.0 card, $80 retail) if this is a hardware issue. I want a better ADC anyway...

The result was that of using Directsound instead of MME. I'd use Asio if I had the program to use it.
