Does anyone manufacture a DVD recorder that will record HD content from a Tivo Series 3?

Does your Tivo have a firewire output?

If so, run a firewire cable from your digital Tico box and save your HD programs to your computer in their original HD format.

Play them back from there.

Edit the HD programs into parts, if necessary, to fit onto standard DVD media (single or double layer) and burn them. They will playback in HD using an HD-DVD player without difficulty. (There is a thread somewhere which gives blow by blow instructions. Let me know if you can't find it.)

Neither the TiVo S3 nor the TiVo HD have firewire output.

They will all record the HD content, but will only be in 480 per the DVD standard. To get better you would need to go to a computer, as Bfdtv had described in the sticky "Attn Newbies: You Cannot Record in Hi-Def Resolution on Current DVD Recorders "

In that thread he describes how a person can record HD to a standard DVD. The catch is the 40-50 min. time limitation, along with the fact that the DVD's would need to be played back on a HD DVD player.
