Red problem slowly coming back on 51f59

Well the tech guy came over from Sears and got rid of my red screen problem that mostly occurs in dark scenes. Well after a week, the red is slowly creeping back. All he did was adjust some button underneath the set. He took the front panel off and and the wood piece with six screws and adjusted something. He told me I had a G2 picture tube problem and that sets drift into the red sometimes. I would just adjust this myself where my backrgounds and dark scenes are black like its supposed to be. It's not as red as it was but its slowly getting there IMO. Any tv tech guys know where that adjustment is at? Its definitely hardware under the set and not in the tech menu.

Search this Forum for Focus Block or Screen Control, and do some reading. Then grab a screwdriver and a flashlight. Just be aware that those controls effect your grayscale, which sets up the color on your Tv. If you mess it up and the service guy has to come back to fix what you did, they may charge you.

If I keep having this red problem coming back, what's the chances of hitatchi replacing this unit? Slim to none? I want a permanent fix for this and not having to adjust the red back to black. It looked real good once he fixed it originally but now its shifted to red again. Background is red instead of black and red is leaking into my dark scenes again.
well i adujusted the pots, u have to be very careful or the color gets off, fortunately ive eyeballed it pretty good and all is good right now but 1 week and the red coming back doesnt really cut it, it should stay good a lot longer than that

were did you purchase your tv from? if it was from cc and your in your 30 days then have them exchange it. otherwise if it goes out of line/moves again i would get on the phone to hitachi or if you have an extended warranty and make sure they pin point the problem. i don't see why the red would keep drifting on a new set. i can see on an older set as the ic's start to wear down. anyway i would make sure it's corrected 100% this shouldn't be happening. good luck
had it bout 2 months, yah, took 1 week to drift back to red, betya it does it again in another week,i got it adjusted right butyour right, this is bs and it needs fixed 100% or im demaning a new one, it has a year warranty, im debating bout getting an extended warranty, i got the set from searts
Seen this on Sony's when the crt starts going bad. The test is to take an insulated screwdriver and lightly tap on the neck of the tube (BE CAREFUL). If you see flashes of color on the screen the tube needs to be replaced.

I have to go through Sears for repair but Ill talk with the tech guy when he comes back down. I don't guess telling him I adjusted the pots would be a good idea right? Even though I got it set back up.

This tv must have been a long standing floor model, even thought they claimed it was there for only 2 weeks. If the floor model had been on 24/7 for a year or more at Sears, I could see why the tube could be going out. Nevertheless, Hitatchi or Sears needs to make this right.

One other thing I have noticed. Often while I'm watching this tv, I'll noticed a slight shift in colors. Just as if you were adjusting the warmth of the colors in the settings. It will shight and then shift back to where it was. That's not natural, is it? It's subtle but I notice it. Never should have taken this tv off the floor. I'll never do that again.
