Redish blob in the center of a white background / Panasonic ST60

Hi everyone I am new to the forums and recently purchased an open box Panasonic 50ST60 from BB. I have always own Panasonic plasmas and haven’t experience this issue. I put up a white background to check for burn-ins and noticed a reddish blob in the center of the screen. Is this something that I should be worried about? When watching movies and TV it was something that I didn’t notice. Thanks for your input!

Hi,

I saw some complaints of that issue in several forums. It seems that all series are affected, but only a fiew sets.

As from the readings it is still unknown what is the cause of the problem, there are speculations on panel driving and phosphor. Personally I would say it is more an issue with the phosphor.

Users say that even with 2000 hrs and more on the sets, the issue still exists.

Here is some reading:

If You have the chance to return the TV, get an exchange or a refund and buy a different set.
