We have one of thse

Also, I cant seem to play at the higher resolutions (1920x1080). Shouldnt the tv at least downcovert those?

Highest stable resolution I can get in windows is 1360x768

You have a 720p TV (1280x720). It will accept 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. All inputs that are not 720p will be converted by the TV to 720p. Your set will not accept a 1080p (1920x1080p) input.
