Refunded My HD-A3

1563 Views 10 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  sroberts1220
Just Returned a HD-A3 for a $199 refund (bought 12/23) and purchased the Toshiba D-R400 DVD "Recorder" for $110 off Amazon. I'm staying away from Blu-Ray until there is some sense of future direction. I suspect I won't even consider Blu-Ray until the prices drop another couple hundred and the versioning is stable. So, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are losers as far as I'm concerned. From what I've seen, I'm just as happy with an upconverted plain ole DVD.

New player prices aren't to far off from what you paid for your recorder and its my experience that hd players are bettter upconverters than regular dvd players with their better quality hardware that is necessry to decode hd. I'd reconsider just for upconversion alone.
More for me to give away as gifts to unsuspecting friends and family!

OK. Sounds like a plan. And it's obvious you won't need to post in these sections anymore. And think of all the money you'll save now that you realized how happy you are with "plain old DVD".
Wrong forum. There is a blu-ray player forum down the hall ....

Now get the A3 cheaper

DVD recorders usually are not good upscaling DVD players.

Take care!

I also returned mine since I was within the 30 days. I also had bought a Panasonic Blu Ray player at the same time that I originally bought the HD DVD player. Needless to say, Warner's decision is the reason. I now have a $200 BB credit to buy more Blu Ray discs.
