Hi folks!

Okay here's the deal:

One of my local resellers is offering refurbished HLM617w's for $4000. This seems like a pretty good deal to me, especially due to the fact that new ones are few and far between as to availability.

But my concern is what's the catch?

Specifically:

Is there something I need to be mindful of if I purchase one? A hidden catch?

If it turns out to be a older model will it have the same internals and firmware as the later models?

Just what do they do to refurbish a DLP?

Will the recently announced upgrades from Samsung be available for refurb owners as well?

Yeah, I'm a newbie thus so many questions. But with your help I'll soon have a grasp on it all, I'll still ask questions tho! :D

Thanks for your help!

Shop around. I got mine new for $4400 + tax. I waited 3 months, though.

The 61" HLM's already have the HLN internals. Might want to get a 2nd opinion.

Can you get a thirty day return for a full refund if you don't like it?

It probably won't have the same firmware. It may revert to "wide" each time you change inputs or turn it off. It will not have the benefit if any of what ever Samsung has learned so far.
