HD-DVD discs are not region coded. You can play an HD-DVD from Japan on an American player. However, the HD-A1 must support region coding on standard DVDs.

....so guys...are there any words on region free codes for the Hd-A1?
I was really disappointed to see that in 2006, the era of 1080p, we still have region proprietary players...
sigh.
