I have a table that has a built in pc with a touch screen monitor. well its goign to be built. Is there any programs that can be installed and hardware that will allow me to control my entertainment unit from my touchscreen lcd?
You're going to use a PC as a remote control? Absolutely! You need an IR emitter connected to the computer, and the software to control it. I know that a popular device for use with Linux OS is the RedRat, but with Windows I don't know if that will work. A quick search turned up this interesting device:
well i figured it was do able, but where can i get an ir emitter and the software that would work? This won't relaly be the main function of the computer. but it would just be cool to have that ability also.
I know folks are using ML with Slink-e and Girder pretty successfully. Not sure about the touchscreen though.
If you're looking to do it on the cheap, The Tira from HomeElectro is pretty inepensive and it is supposed to work with Girder (Free). You could try to combine those with a free front end software like Xlobby or MyHTPC.
