I know this has been asked to death. But i need help getting the right remote. Which is better the MX 700 or harmony?

It's hard to say which remote is better for you without knowing more about your setup and control needs. The MX-700 can do more than the Harmony (ie: more macros for one), but if you don't need those features, then one of the Harmonys might be a better fit. I would suggest reading the reviews of the Harmony 659 (which is virtually the same in programming as the newer models) and MX-700 on Remote Central. Also, take the Harmony test drive on their website and download the software and programming manual for the MX-700. You can run through all the programming of the MX-700 without even having the remote.

agree with Mike, all these remotes are top remotes and what gives one or the other the edge and makes it a better choice is personal, and that is exactly what you have not given us

There weren't really looking for an equipment list, as both remotes are learning remotes and can therefore handle pretty much anything, they wanted to know what you want out of a remote.


Do you want to be able to press one clearly labelled button such as "DVD" that will turn on all all the devices necessary to play a DVD and put them in the right mode, for example?


Not being really familiar with either of the remotes in question, I can't ask you more specific questions about your needs.
