I will be building a hush box for my JVC G11. The owners manual indicates that an "infrared remote sensor extension unit" can be plugged into the remote port (small mini type audio plug format) at the side of the projector. The other end can then be put through a small hole in the box. Has anyone used this method? Where can I get the sensor extension?

Don, I didn't receive a warrenty card with my projector and just talked with a real live person at JVC who confirmed that the sales receipt is all that is needed to honor the 2 year warrenty. I had previously left a message and got a phone call message back with erroneous info. I was able to talk with an actual person just a few minutes ago in their professional division; Good luck.

How do you identify what will work with a G11 ?


We are talking about just a sensor on one end and a mini-plug on the other, right ? None of the documentation I have for my projector and nothing I've found on the web has any specs for this item.


Most of the stuff at SmartHome is either bit parts that seem to need integrating into some other controller, or two-piece extenders where you have a powered sensor unit that converts to RF which is picked up by the second unit which recreates the IR signal through a blaster to be picked up by the sensor on the equipment you want to control.


For a hushbox, all we are interested in is a new sensor that can be attached to the ouside of the hushbox with a wire lead running back to the jack on the G11. Or have I misinterpreted what this jack is for ?
