Remote no longer working correctly

367 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  j.m.
I've searched the FAQ for people with similar problems but have not found any messages on this topic...

After 2+ years of perfect service, my ReplayTV remote isn't working correctly anymore. The ReplayTV is connected to a Comcast digital cable box and the ReplayTV remote works via an IR blaster. I've made no changes to the wiring. Now, when you try to set a channel using the ReplayTV remote, the Comcast cable box trys to set the correct channel, but fails to do so and, as an example, if I try to set the channel to 025, it winds up going to 222. If I try setting the channel to 061, it winds up going to 666. The Comcast cable box remote control is working fine, it is just the ReplayTV remote that is failing to work properly.

I've messed with the setup till I'm blue in the face with no success. Can anyone offer a suggestion to fix this thing.

batteries? (even if you think they aren't bad)
It's not the remote, it's the IR blaster settings that are the problem. I'm too tired to search, but there's a ton of theads on this, search 'comcast'.
I donno chain777. I read his post to mean the REMOTE is sending crazy signals and his IR Blaster is working fine.

Assuming chain777 is on the right track, here's the a search on 'comcast blaster' :

Code 4476 must be changed to 476 in order to work the cable box correctly. Sometimes simply changing to code 476 fails to correct the issue. In that case the following is required to clear out the old code http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/sup....asp?docID=228
Thanks Mikeyboy. Your link to the instructions needed to reset the IR blaster codes corrected the problem. I owe you one!
If you read between the lines here, he was using the Replay remote (in Replay mode, not cable mode) to enter a channel number (ie, the channel number would appear on the Replay screen) and the Replay itself would then try to change the channel number on the cable box. So the problem was obviously not a remote issue, but an issue with the blaster settings within Replay.

The statement about the cable remote still working fine was misleading because the cable remote doesn't make Replay change the channels, it does it itself.
My IR Blaster stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Comcast apeared to upgrade something??

Doed not work now on my General Instruments digital cable box or my Motorola DCT6200 HD box
