Remote to do Htpc and reciever

1202 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Doug Balentine
I am looking for a remote to control my MaranzSR6003 receiver, My Panasonic TV and my HTPC. The TV and Receiver are IR and The HTPC would be RF.I would also like a built in keyboard. Low cost small and backlit.

Thank You

I think you would be best off with two remotes...One for the components and another for the HTPC. For the HTPC the EFO 3rd Generation has great reviews and is a small keyboard/touchpad at $40
+1. Using a remote for that sort of thing is going to get old fast. I do it myself, but only for simple stuff like transport controls and launching apps. Otherwise I use a wireless keyboard/mouse.

If you insist, then nearly any remote will work if you get an IR dongle for your PC and just use a blaster from whatever RF system you get.
this one works great with my HTPC, Rii mini wireless keyboard

The buttons are backlit and easy to read in a totally dark room, plus it has a laser pointer (good for getting the cat away from the projector screen)

But how would it work with your other devices? Looks like it would just control the HTPC and nothing else.

That was my original question. I wanted to know if there was something that could do both IR and RF. If not that then something that would turn on the TV and Receiver and control WMC on the HTPC.

iRule offers the flexibility to control with ip, ir and rs2322. It runs on Apple devices and has a keyboard.
