This summer, join the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, follow The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or Rendezvous with Rama. For a limited time, you can choose from among a fantastic selection of sci-fi and fantasy movies for just $4.99, TV episodes for 99¢, and audiobooks for $9.95. Unforgettable adventures abound at prices that are out of this world.

I love the book series. wiki says the film is DOA.

In late 2008, David Fincher stated the movie is unlikely to be made. "It looks like it's not going to happen. There's no script and as you know, Morgan Freeman's not in the best of health right now. We've been trying to do it but it's probably not going to happen."[5] The IMDb page for the project has been removed.

I hope its back to being filmed. But I'm pretty sure the folks here at AVS fourms would have posted something by now.

Now - What about getting Ringworld filmed?

It would be nice. I know they've wanted to film this one for quite a while.

I still think a better A.C. Clarke movie to made would be Childhood's End. Marvel Comic maven Stan Lee dream has been to see this film made before he dies (and seeing as he's in his 80s he doesn't have much longer to go). FX is no longer an issue now, and can be updated to fit the times, or can be shot as written in the book with a little bit of updating.

+1

I have every Larry Niven book, one of my must keep authors.

What got me is this info came inside an Apple email, I did not make it up at all.

A Peter Jackson treatment would be nice
. I just re-read Ringworld and Ringworld Engineers last week. It would be wonderful to see these characters come to life. I'm just not certain that audiences would grasp the scope or how to encapsulate the Known Space backstory with all the cultural subtext, alien and human, that needs to be understood. It wasn't a long book, but Niven never thinks small. I sure would love to see puppeteers, kzin, Teela Brown and Louis Wu have some adventures
.
