I've always wanted a projector and I am in the middle of renovating my home. I have my doubts that a projector will work in this room the way I want it to but what do you guys think?

I need to keep the projector in the $1,000-$1,500 range, 3D, 1080P. The room has windows on the right side but there will be blinds to make it quite dark. I'd like the screen to be 90-110". I'd like to ceiling mount it but there will be a ceiling fan which is complicating it a bit!

Currently we are planning to put a ceiling fan in the middle of the room, exactly 10ft from the screen but this can change.

If your fan is going 10' from the screen, you have to remember blade extension, which is going to push you 2 or 3 feet closer.  I have a ceiling fan right next to my projector, but I was able to get a 64" fan and the blades sit back from the projector about 6".  It's close but doesn't cause a problem.  Looking at the projector calculator I don't think 110 is going to work for anything (with your desire for 3D), but a 90" screen might be do-able.

Since I am still deciding on placement of the room I can put the ceiling fan anywhere. It just made sense to put it in the center of the room so It's over the couch. Also I was thinking possible the fan blades could be low enough that the projector mounted to the ceiling wouldn't interfere?

How tall are your ceilings?  If you've got standard 8' or even 9' ceilings I don't think you'll be able to get a projector up under the ceiling fan blades.  You'll have the thickness of the projector plus the mount.  I want to say mine is about 12" from ceiling to bottom of the projector.  If you drop your blades lower you're going to have a very low ceiling fan.

Yup they're 8'. So it looks like the sweet spot is 10' from screen, that would put the ceiling fan at around 13' back. I am looking at the BenQ W1500 for this application.
