First off I didn't see any sort of repair forum here so I hope this is posted in the right place. If not would you please direct me to a place that is able to help with this sort of thing?

I have a Dell M209X DLP projector that is about 3-4 years old. It is currently starting to show black and white dots through out the screen. (Picture is attached) From what I have been researching it looks as if the micro mirrors are going bad. (DMD) I cannot seem to find a DMD replacement for this projector anywhere! Will I have to open it up to see what kind of DMD it has? Or is there an easier way to find this all out? Is it even feasible to replace seeing that you can get a decent project for under 500 dollars today? The bulb only has 500 hours on it so maybe that will help me decide.

1.) Is it worth the cost to repair this myself?

2.) If it is worth the cost, where do I find and source the parts from?

Thank you all for your time!!
