Replacement STB

844 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Phantom Gremlin
I currently have a Samsung 351, and I am looking to replace it. The 351 works ok, except it has multipath issues on one channel (I am 10 miles from the towers). For my next STB I would like improved multipath performance and one that changes the channels quicker. The 351 takes around 1-2 seconds to change a channel. Is there any STB's that change the channel as fast as the analog tuners (under .5 sec)?

Thanks

No one has suggestions?
Fastest thing to do is to go to the STB Snyposis at the top of the forum, pick out some boxes, then use the advanced search functions of the forum to track down all the various threads about those units. You can also search "OTA" in thread titles and get a host of threads. Try this one: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=608229

Hope that helps until the board gets busier. Lotta AVSers gone for the holidays.

Well it looks like the new Humax is pretty good. Can anyone with one the samsung STB's comment on the new Humax?

Thanks
The Directv h20 is 'slow' and not the best menus but it has excellent video and it could be the best OTA tuner.

I have a HUMAX HFA100 works great and I like the continual scanning that it does on it's own. :D
How fast does it change the channels? Does it change similary to an analog tuner or does it take around 1-2sec before a picture displays?

Thanks
An ATSC tuner can't change channels as fast as an analog tuner. This is because the ATSC tuner must wait for an I-frame in the MPEG-2 stream from the new channel before it can display a picture.
