Hey, I'm looking for advice on getting 2 new HDTV's to replace my old defective one.

I previously had the Olevia 747i (utterly beautiful screen for the price, $1200), but some banding problems became apparent and I've decided to return it to TigerDirect.

To replace the 747i, I'm looking to see if there are any smaller (37-42 inch, 37 preferable) HDTV's out there that can come close or match the 747i for price-performance ratio.

What I'm looking for is:

1080p

Multiple Inputs for HDMI, Component, DVI

LCD Flat Panel

Picture-in-Picture would be nice, but not entirely necessary.

There are a LOT of TV's out there to consider, and I'm asking the HDTV pros at AVS for some recommendations!

You actually shouldn't have a hard time finding something to beat that Olevia as it's an 8 bit budget panel.

Samsung 550 or 650 easily will kick it to the curb or even an older Sony 40S3000 (if you can now find one).

Virtually any Samsung or Sony will beat the pants off any Olevia.

You requiring someone's suggest asap? Mm.. I suggest you take it back to tigerdirect and get full refund. Then go walmart or best buy in your location to looking and find the lcdtv one for you!

Good luck with your own decision.

Yeah, I'm shipping it back to TigerDirect either this week or the next.

I can't find the samsung 550 anywhere, the 650's are about a thousand more than the Olevia, and the Sony 40S3000 is...well, pretty hard to find too, and isn't 1080p

What kind of a 1080p would I be able to find in the $700-$1000 37+ inch range?

There's this Sharp

Or this Haier

Or go with Vizio and get 42". I have had their Vu42LF for a year and it is an exceptional set.

Thanks for the quick reply! It looks like the Vizio is my best bet, it's going for $800 at tigerdirect.ca right now. I can't find the Haier anywhere in Canada, and the Sharp's more expensive than the 747i, and 10 inches smaller >.
