Replacing my loyal AE700U

My AE700U has developed the blue panel problem so many others have noticed. I've decided that now is as good a time as any to replace it; you can always wait for something better, but if you do you'll never buy anything

Looking for recommendations. I have a light-controlled room with a 92" gray screen. Was considering the 8350, but recent write-ups have led me to believe I may be disappointed. So I'm back into the $2k price range: panny 4000, epson 8700ub, others.

What I'm looking for is recommendations, yea or nay. I'm not a "buy it and sell it in a year" guy, obviously. I've got about 6000 hours on my ae700 (4400 on the first bulb). It gets used 2-3 hours most days, up to 10 or so on weekends. Mix of sports, other TV, movies and gaming. Whatever I replace it with has to be able to handle that workload. Thoughts welcome.

Disappointed how? Though I agree the Panny AE4000 and Epson HC8700 are superior to the 8350, any of them are a huge jump from the AE700...
Oh, not disappointed compared to the 700. I realize that any new 1080 projector will blow it away. I'm more after "bang for the buck" over a 4+ year period, and I'm willing to spend more than the 8350 costs. I'd rather spend a little more and be happy for five years than spend a little less and be happy for 3. If the $2k projector provides a significantly better viewing experience than the $1200 projector, and the both last as long, I'll spend the 2k.

You'll want to read this

If you're picky, want many features (power lens & focus, lens memory, frame interpolation) and can't wait (Panasonic must show a new model soon), then buy the AE4000. If not, I think that now the 8350 is a good choice. And I'm a Panasonic PJs fan.
