I have a Pioneer SC-1522-K receiver that recently died. I bought it last year from Costco for $600, so I am able to return it for a full refund.

What should I replace it with? I don't see my use of it changing in the next 5 years, and don't mind buying another one in 5 years and putting this one somewhere else in the house or selling it.

My requirements are:

7.1 (9.1 preferred)

3 HDMI-in

1 HDMI-out

1 optical-out (preferred, not totally necessary)

Apple AirPlay support

iPhone remote control app

My uses (in order of importance) are:

Loud music multiple times per week

Movies once per week

Video games multiple times per week

TV once per week

What are my best options in the $500-1000 price range?

Died?

There are a lot o downs in modern era receivers, I was thinking that Pioneer was one of reliable brands...

So, for the next 5 years I believe there's no other option than Yamaha..., maybe you can search for a Aventage 1020 or 1030, or wait for a 2014 refresh to search for some big deal in 20x0 (9.2)...

The troubleshooting guide says I have a power supply/fan issue. It's not that big of a deal since the Costco warranty lets me get a full refund.... I'm more unhappy that I have to replace a product that I really liked, so I'm taking the opportunity to see if maybe there's something better now.
