I use my ReplayTV remote as a universal remote for my TV & vcr, which is particularly handy when dropping shows to tape.

HOWEVER, one button is missing. Speed. I want to be able to tell my vcr to use SP or EP or SLP, but right now I have to use the VCR's remote for that.

That's all. Just thought I'd mention it.

Hey Loren, what's the brand and model of your VCR, and what device code are you using to control it? Tell me this and I'll tell you how to program the Tape Speed button.

It's a Sony, I believe. I'll have to check when I get home. All the other buttons work, but there is no Speed equivalent on the Replay Remote. What button might it be?

Thanks,

If you are using 0032, 0033, 0034 or 0253, then you can probably program the tape speed button using advanced code 738, if you are using 0035 then the code is 503.

First pick a button on the remote to work the tape speed function, let's say you chose the JUMP button, here's how you would program it to operate tape speed in VCR mode.

1. Press VCR

2. Press and hold the Code Set button until the LED flashes twice.

3. Type 994, two flashes.

4. Press and release Code Set.

5. Type 738.

6. Press JUMP, two flashes.

Now the JUMP button should be your tape speed button. If there are any other functions that are missing you can probably create them using advanced codes too, check the lists on my site.

I followed your directions, but it didn't work.

3. Type 994, two flashes.

After step 3, when I typed 994, instead of 2 flashes, I got one longer flash.

Then steps 4 5 & 6 didn't seem to do anything.

This is with one of the original remotes, by the way. From my 2004.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Loren

You asking me for the coded reminded me that I have it written down in my Newton.

Yes, Sony. Code 0032. I will try your procedure tonight. Thanks,

That's the key piece of info that was missing before. The old Replay remotes have had the advanced code feature disabled for some reason. For those of you that have the newer remotes, you can use the process described above to program any missing functions, those of you using the old remotes, you can't I'm afraid.

Here's my post on the older Replay remotes: http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/Forum13/HTML/001976.html
