Replay TV for $99 new?

6460 Views 76 Replies 26 Participants Last post by  Snowflake
On ubid, there is currently an auction for 21 "Comcast Replay TV" units. There are 25 minutes to go in the auction--and current high bid is $99--a great way to pick up a cheap unit?

BTW, is anyone familiar with the comcast version?

Any chance of you posting a link to the auction? I can't find it based on "comcast" or "replay". Thanks.

It's already past $200... It's a 3030 (but it mistakenly says 60 hours, but let's not fool ourselves :))

It'll be past $300-400 before it ends.
I see these on ubid, but what is the difference between a reular replay unit and a "comcast" version?

does this comcast include lifetime subscription?
It appears to function the same as any Replay. For all we know the C means a B stock that was refurbished again, and the seller is making the Comcast thing up :)
Replay dosn't have subscriptions namja.

It looks like they are selling off the comcast boxes from this press release.

And here is an old article about it:

Cnet News

If I remeber how the deal was with another cable company they did this thru the boxes are a special version that has most of 3.0's features and some specal ones so they could view pay-per-view movies off the cable system.

according to ReplayPatrick: "the AT&T builds were 2.4 and 3.1".

I hadn't been aware that they got an upgrade since their original release.

See this post for more info: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...&highlight=3.1
I thought that the AT&T 2.6 boxes had manual record and padding?
Anyone know what they ended at? Last I saw (with 3 hours to go) they were at $300. But UBID doesn't let you see the final price!
The photo on the auction page appears to be a 4000. Seems they were rather sloppy.

While they didn't go for $99, I have a friend that found one at a store on closeout for $199 with an alleged $100 rebate. So the great prices are out there if you get lucky.
They have another auction now--30 minutes to go. Plenty left but there is a reserve price of 229--there are 30 units or so with only a handful of people meeting the reserve so far

CRAP! Do I buy ANOTHER Replay?!?!?! (For a total of FOUR!?) I wish I hadn't seen this :)
Geez, Im sorry for the re-post--I hit my refresh button on the wrong screen and it reposted. I am not associated with ubid in any way! In fact, I am not a big fan of ubid--especially their policy of keeping auctions open past closing time if they keep getting bids. I hope some of you were able to get a good deal though

Here is the link for that auction:

I'd buy one, but are we SURE that this doesn't have a special version of the software that is out of date and/or non-upgradable like some of those units with a certain version of 2.1? If it were a true Replay brand unit I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

(love the Replay 4k picture with it, morons... Isn't that false advertising? Or bait and switch? I'd bet I'd have a case...)
