In your thread "New 3.0 Features -- it's the little things", you said that Theme Channels will be renamed if you change the keywords.


I thought it meant that you could change the description of the theme channel without changing the search criteria.


Example:

I created a channel "Soap" using Show Title as the search. This will record episodes of the show SOAP which runs on the comedy channel Saturday & Sunday.


I created the channel, and then selected "change Search Options" to get the keyboard and changed SOAP to SOAH (just an example). It initiated another search for matching shows and does not find any.

If I press cancel from the "Actors/Description, etc. screen, it keeps it at SOAP.


Am I not understanding this "feature"? Can it actually rename themes without changing the search options or not?

Try it w/o using the "Find All Episodes".


That'll work. Ie: TYPE IN "soap". Then create the theme. Then change the options to "soah". Title should change.

Nope... does not work.


Here is what I am doing...

REPLAYGUIDE

Highlight theme channel press SELECT

Select CHANGE SEARCH OPTIONS

Change SOAP to SOAH - select DONE

This forces the Actors/Descriptions/etc. screen.

Press DONE.


System looks for new search criteria and finds nothing. Theme channel is changed not renamed.

I understand what you are saying, but by doing that, it won't find the shows to record.

My original understanding of the feature (as you originally posted) is that we could be simply "renaming" the title of the theme channel without affecting what it records. If this is not the case, then I just wanted to know.


Therefore, if I changed my SOAP channel to SOAH, will it still record the show Soap?, or will it look for shows named SOAH.

If that is the case, then the feature really isn't "renaming", but rather just editing a theme based channel which we could always do anyway.
