Hey all,


We have SD DirecTV with an old RCA receiver with a ReplayTV 5040 that died about a month ago. Don't want to get it fixed, want to wait until DirecTV has their Tivo's this year.


Can anyone suggest a decent older model Tivo that would work with my DirecTV box that I could get on eBay for cheap? I don't need a ton of storage or mods, just enough to record a couple of favorite shows for the next few months. All I know is the Replay's but want to get into a Tivo this time so our household can start getting familiar with the Tivo interface.


Not looking to spend much more then $100, if possible.

Any series 1 or series 2 will work with your SD DirecTV box.


The series 1 and 2 had standard analog video and s-video inputs and an I/R blaster to control cable and satellite boxes.


Watch your local cragislist and you can pick them up cheap as people upgrade to HD-Tivo's.


Heck if you were local I'd give you my old series 1.
