Resident Evil 4 Wii-edition reviewed by Famitsu and gets a..

9.5 out of 10.

The game walked away with two '9's and two '10's. A translation by IGN of the review stated that Famitsu felt that the action was more tense than the other versions due to you feeling like your more in the action with the new control scheme, and they said that anyone who has played the game before will still find something to enjoy. It combines the best features of the Gamecube version (better graphics) and PS2 version (more features).

It also plays in TRUE 16x9 Widescreen 480P (no letterbox).

The retail price of $29.99 makes it even sweeter.

Awesome. I'll be canceling my Forza 2 pre-order and using that credit towards this.
Could someone that had never played the RE series jump into this with no problems?

Yep. RE4 on the GC was the first one I played and had no problems whatsoever getting into it.

Cool, thanks.
I'm just not that excited over this release. The graphics are going to essentially be the same as they were on the GC, and I don't know if the control scheme is up for something like a precision shooter. I'll wait until it's out to make a final decision, but this will be a bargain bin grab for me at best.
If I can play this with a GC gamepad, I'll buy it. I don't want to use the Wii-Mote but I do want true widescreen support.
Yeah, the Gamecube version's low resolution letterboxed widescreen is painful on a large display. I'll certianly be swapping my coppies of the GC and PS2 version for this, though I still intended to pick up the PC version to for real high resolution rendering.
If you want to play with a GC pad then just buy the GC version and play it in your Wii.

I was also excited about the PC version. I thought great graphics and M/Kb would be great. However the reviews I have read are terrible. They say don't even play the game unless you buy a gamepad for your pc. It is only $20 though.

I think you missed the point of what I was saying. I have the GC version and I can play it on the Wii, but that doesn't make it true widescreen. It's letterboxed. I want a true widescreen version like the Wii version, I just don't want to use the Wii-Mote. I own all three next gen consoles and the Wii by far sees the least action. I believe I turn it on once a month just to make sure it's still working. I wouldn't have even bought it if it wasn't completely backwards compatible, otherwise it's been a waste of money so far. I knew it was a fad item but I never expected the quality game releases to be this slow. I'm not sure who's having more trouble making quality games, Nintendo or Sony, it's neck and neck right now.

I'll happily get both.

Dude I hear you...but there will be some cool nintendo games comming. I still do not see why there are no wiis on the shelfs yet. It boggles my mind. The PS3 gets riped a hole for not having enough games, and we all know the Wii has no game too....

I hardly play my wii too..
I picked up the GC version for $20 new, back in January. I've just gotten half way through (I am now on disc #2). I am having so much fun playing this challenging title that I will be buying the Wii version and playing the whole thing (or the parts I've finished) over again. The analog stick on the GC controller is a bit difficult to use for FPS gaming, I can't imagine playing the game on more difficult skill settings. The added precision the Wii remote will bring to the game will be a relief and just make it that more immersive. I can't wait to get it. This game is sooo worth it.

pardon my stupidity.

RE:4 and RE:4 UC are two different games, right? When will UC be released? I like mindless shooter as such.
I believe the name is Resident Evil : Umbrella Chronicle not Resident Evil 4 : UC.

I don't find it very interesting. I think it's just another "house of the dead" game.
Umbrella Choice looks much better than any Wii game to date.
