Hmm, I thought RE5 was shown previously for PS3....for it to be a multisystem launch, it would likely use the regular "shell" Wii controller.

Its multisystem, its coming for 360 and PS3. I saw another writer speculating that it will show up on Wii as well just this week... only a few days till all is revealed.
Its my understanding that RE5 builds off of the same engine that was developed for RE4. It would be crazy for Capcom not to make it for Wii since they already laid the groundwork for the Gamecube and the Wii is based off the Gamecube hardware.

I'm a bit worried about these multi platform games including the Wii. Typically they design these games around the lowest common denominator, which in this case is the Wii. Hopefully they design the games around 360/PS3 and dummy them down for the Wii.
Kysers link seems to point to a new RE game for Wii, not RE5 so no crippling of the graphics would be needed.
Thanks, I can't access most of the links posted when I'm at work. That does seem to bode well for all parties.
Here's more info for those at work...

When Resident Evil 5 was announced in mid-2005, Capcom revealed that it was headed for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360--no Nintendo platform was in sight.

News out of Japan today sheds some light on the Nintendo snub, as Capcom announced that a Resident Evil game is currently in development for the Wii.

The title will be "a new game in the Resident Evil franchise" that combines the series' trademarks with "the revolutionary control system of the Wii." No further details about the game were announced.

The Wii game isn't necessarily Resident Evil 5. Given that Resident Evil is one of its biggest franchises, Capcom does have a penchant for reworking existing RE games and creating spin-offs.
